Our Scholarships

Quinlan Crowd Scholar

Two Quinlan Crowd Scholarships will be awarded this year. Each Quinlan Crowd Scholar will receive £4,000 to study at university for the first year of an undergraduate degree. This scholarship is available only to students who have been under local authority care.*

To apply, you must complete a Crowd Scholar application and be eligible for a Crowd Scholarship. Applicants need not complete supplemental application questions or interview processes to be considered for a Quinlan Crowd Scholarship but will need to provide proof of care from their local authority.

Please feel free to contact - in addition to Crowd Scholar - Dr. Quinlan at quinlan.scholarship@gmail.com for any questions about the Quinlan Crowd Scholarship, including eligibility criteria.

* The scholarship prioritises those who fit the "former relevant child" definition when they turn 18. However, we recognise experiences of care can be complex and use of terminology varies, and we may consider applications from those with other forms of care experience. If you are not sure if you might qualify (for example if you’ve spent time in kinship care with a family member or friend) please email Jane (as above) with an explanation of your situation.

The Quinlan Scholarship is a family endeavour with Mary, Jane, Matt and Sophie providing financial support, and Joe as part of a broader organising committee. The scholarship was established—and is overseen and managed by—Jane Quinlan, a doctor working in Oxford.

Dr. Jane Quinlan

“I was lucky enough to have been brought up in a supportive family, and my children have had similar good fortune, so it feels important to pay that privilege forward.”

“The Quinlan Scholarship has not only provided me with financial stability during university but has also provided me with a lifelong mentor who provides support and guidance when I need it. I am grateful to be a recipient of this scholarship and encourage all care leavers to apply to this!”
